Green Lantern Review

Posted in On DVD by - October 02, 2011

If you like boring romance drama’s with some sci-fi then Green Lantern is for you.  Ryan Reynolds plays Hal Jordan a test pilot at some company. His plane gets brought down and he finds a dying red/purple alien and gets the green lantern ring from him.  Blake Lively plays Carol Ferris, his ex-girlfriend, but contrary to her name she is not very lively and neither are a lot of the characters. Green Lantern’s advertising and trailers suggest that there is nonstop action suspense which is very false. Only the last 20 minuets even have any action.

Most of the movie is Reynolds and Lively talking and Reynolds saying how much of a mess up he is. But as in every sci fi superhero movie, his new powers help him overcome his fear and become a superhero. Green Lantern is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci fi action violence but there really is none until the last 20-30 minutes of the film. Otherwise it is 95 minutes of boring romance drama.

It comees out on DVD on October 14 but do not be tricked into buying it or renting it on demand unless someone else is paying. If you really want to see this get it on Redbox for a buck a night, because that is all the you should spend on this movie. Green Lantern gets a mediocre C. Reports have it that there is a second one coming out and it does not sound any better than this one.
