For sports fans, Moneyball is more of a baseball movie. But for any one looking for a good character driven drama, Moneybal
l is also for them. Moneyball stars Brad Pitt as Billy Beane the general manager (gm for short) of the Oakland A’s. After the A’s lose another playoff game to the Yankees and the A’s are losing some of their best players, Beane goes to talk to a gm at another team. This is where he meets Peter Brand played by Jonah Hill who has a whole new way of thinking about baseball. Beane hires Brand and the two work on making the team better by looking at the player’s stats instead of scouts recommendations.
From there the team starts to get better and the movie keeps getting better as the movie really develops all of the characters so you feel for them. Moneyball runs at about 2 hours and keeps you entertained the whole time. Moneyball is rated PG-13 for some strong language but is only very brief and is mainly in the beginning before the team starts winning. I think that this movie will appeal to sports fans, drama fans, and people who want a movie to be entertaining and a little though provoking. Moneyball stars Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill and Philip Seymour Hoffman as the team’s coach on the field. Overall Moneyball is a great film and worthy of some of the Oscar contendor praise it is getting. I give Moneyball an A! Moneyball comes out on dvd on January 10.
