There is going to be a 3rd Alvin and the Chipmunks. The new Alvin and the Chipmunks is called Alvin and the Chipmunks : Chipwrecked.
The plot is Dave,the chipmunks and the chipettes are taking a vacation on a cruise boat. They turn the boat into a playground and accidentally get off the cruise ship. Dave then comes to look for them on the small island.
Based of the trailer it will have the same kind of humor that made the first 2 sucessful. That includes the chipmunks own versions of many pop songs (hope you like high-pitched singing) and some rude humor but due to the rating being lower than the past films don’t expect too much.
Alvin and the Chipmunks : Chipwrecked is rated G by the MPAA, unlike the past ones that were rated PG. The rating promises minor rude humor and only a few crude jokes.
Alvin and the Chipmunks : Chipwrecked comes out on December 16, 2011, right in time for the holidays.
