Tropic Thunder Review

PARENTAL NOTE : this movie includes sex, violence, language, and drug references. If you want it cleaned up you can watch the TV-14 rated version on TV. This review is based on the TV-14 version.

If you like silly spoof comedies, then Tropic Thunder is for you.  Tropic Thunder stars Ben Stiller as Tugg Speedman, Jack Black as Jeff Portnoy, Robert Downey Jr. as Kirk Lazarus, Brandon T. Jackson as Alpha Chino, Jay Baruchel  as  Kevin Sandusky and Tom Cruise as Les Grossman.

Tropic Thunder is about the attempted filming of a war film. After a failure in a shoot, the film shifts to being filmed Gurellia style. The actors  then get lost in a jungle and wrapped up in a drug cartel.

It’s funny and a good spoof/satire of war films.  And it is very silly. The faux trailers are also spoofs of movies. The entire first scene ( warning: the first scene has a lot of fake blood and gore)  is especially silly and is full of spoofs and jokes based of cliches of war movies. Overall, Tropic Thunder is funny, but is really silly.

Tropic Thunder is rated R for  pervasive language including sexual references, violent content and drug material. I give Tropic Thunder an A-.
