If you like Transformers, Aliens, and destroyers and battleships, then Battleship is for you. It stars Taylor Kitisch as Lieutenant Alex Hopper, Alexander Skarsgard as Commander Stone Hopper, Rihanna as Petty Officer Cora ‘Weps’ Raikes, Brooklyn Decker as Samantha Shane, and Liam Nesson as Admiral Shane.
Battleship starts when NASA scientists launch a probe into outer space to try to contact alien life. Meanwhile, the United States Navy and a bunch of other countries navy’s all are participating in the RIMPAC national war games in Hawaii. The aliens come and interrupt the games, landing multiple scout spacecrafts, of course, in Hawaii. The aliens erect a protective barrier around their ships which also surrounds 3 naval ships and the islands of Hawaii . The 3 ships must shoot down the aliens, destroy the protective barrier and save the world before the alien scout ships send a message for more ships to come to Earth.
Battleship is a entertaining sci-fi summer blockbuster. It has large scale battles similar to the Transformers movies. There are huge explosions, making Battleship look like a Micheal Bay movie. (He actually executive produces the movie.) The aliens look like Master Chief (from Halo) with silver armor instead of green armor. It is non-stop action as the navy warships (mainly one destroyer) take on the alien ships. At one point in the movie, it looks like the crew members are playing Battleship (the Hasbro game) with the alien ships, hence the name tie-in. Overall, Battleship is an entertaining summer blockbuster Battleship is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence, action and destruction, and for language. I give Battleship an explosive B+.
