Sorry for no new reviews recently. First new movie I’ve seen since Rock of Ages that is reviewable.
If you like funny, amazing ( pardon the pun) superhero movies that have some heart in the relationships, then The Amazing Spider-Man is for you. It stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacey, Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors/ The Lizard, Dennis Leary as Captain Stacey, Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben, and Sally Field as Aunt May.
The Amazing-Spider-man is a retelling of the Spider-Man origin story. Peter Parker is a loner at school and incredibly smart. He finds out about his parents. He goes to Oscorp to follow his classmate so he can ask his father’s work partner Dr. Curt Connors about him. Before he can help him he gets bit and becomes Spider-Man.Peter helps the doctor complete his research and makes a serum to regrow Connor’s arm using lizard DNA. It goes too far and Connors becomes the Lizard. Spider-man then must defeat him and save NYC.
The Amazing Spider-Man is a great superhero movie. It also is part indie romance story between Peter and Gwen. All the actors give amazing performances and the relationship between Peter and Gwen is realistic and has heart. You feel as if they actually care for each other. It is much more believable then the earlier Spider-Man movies. There are also some great flying sequences. Some are dizzying and some are not. There is also some comic relief. Stan Lee has a hilarious cameo in the end of the movie better then almost all of his other one’s. Overall, The Amazing Spider-Man is amazing.
The Amazing Spider-Man is rated PG-13 for sequences of action and violence. I give the Amazing Spider-Man an amazing A.
