If you like surfing movies with drama and an inspirational story, then Chasing Mavericks is for you.It stars Gerald Butler as Frosty Hesson, Johnny Weston as Jay Moriarty, and Abigail Spencer as Brenda Hesson.
Chasing Mavericks is the true story of Jay Moriarty’s training and first time riding mavericks (huge waves). He also tries to woo a childhood sweetheart.
Chasing Mavericks is a good sports drama with positive messages. Jay works very hard for the chance to ride the epic waves. His attempts at trying some of the things are funny. The surfing scenes are great. The way they are filmed is spectacular. It really captures how big and powerful the waves are. There are many scenes with huge waves and they are some of the best scenes in the movie.
It is also an inspirational movie. The lessons on how to ride mavericks can apply to other things. It is also a good drama. The problem is, you are probably not going to see this in theaters. The distribution company did not wide release this movie and it performed badly opening weekend. It is definitely worth renting. It will probably be out on DVD early in 2013. Overall, Chasing Mavericks is a good surfing, sports drama with inspirational messages.
Chasing Mavericks is rated PG for thematic elements and some perilous action.I give Chasing Mavericks an A-.
