If you like great CIA movies based on true stories, then Zero Dark Thirty is for you. Is stars Jessica Chastain as Maya, Jason Clarke as Dan, Kyle Chandler as Joseph Bradley, Mark Strong as Jeremy, Joel Edgerton as Patrick, and Chris Pratt as Justin.
Zero Dark Thirty is about the decade long hunt for Osama bin laden. It starts with audio recordings from 9/11 and ends with the raid on the compound on May 1 – 2, 2011.
Zero Dark Thirty is a great CIA movie bolstered by a very strong leading female performance and strong supporting cast. Jessica Chastain is amazing as Maya. She can show emotion, strength and shows her character’s will to find and kill bin laden as great. The rest of the movie is great too. It is a CIA/ political thriller with a great suspenseful ending even though you already know what is going to happen. It shows all the hard work that went into the hunt and the sacrifices. I was not uninterested for the 2 and 1/2 hour long runtime. You need to see it in theaters for the Raid sequence though. That sequence is one of the best of last year ( This came out in 2012 in some cities, 2013 in wide release). It is very well done. The whole movie is like that too. It also shows how determination and not giving up can lead to major accomplishments. Overall, Zero Dark Thirty is a great CIA thriller.
Zero Dark Thirty is rated R for strong violence including brutal disturbing images, and for language. It deserves that rating. I give Zero Dark Thirty a silent A+.
