Now You See Me Review

Now You See MeIf you like fun twisty magician movies then Now You See Me is for you. It stars Jesse Eisenberg as J. Dainel Atlas, Mark Ruffalo as Dylan Rhodes, Woodey Harrelson as Merrit McKinney, Isla Fisher as Henley Reeves, Dave Franco as James Wilder, Melaine Laurent as Alama Day, Morgan Freeman as Thaddeus Bradley and Micheal Caine as Arthur Tressler.

Now You See Me starts with 4 individual magicians performing their tricks. They all get a card and meet up at a house and discover a blueprint. Cut to a year later. They have become the 4 Horsemen and are performing on a Las Vegas stage. Their final trick is to rob a bank and they successfully do it. The FBI wants to know how and with the help of a magician exposer they attempt to discover how they did that trick and stop them before their next trick.

Now You See Me is a fun twisty magician movie. It is funny throughout.  Between the banter among the Horsemen, and the results of the tricks that they perform with varying outcomes.

While I will not spoil any of the twists, they are unexpected.   Occuring when you think you know something but you really don’t. There is foreshadowing throughout.  And if you happen to spot one, seeing it happen, and that feeling of accurate prediction is very enjoyable. These kind of things allow the audience to keep guessing constantly and play along.

The magic aspect is also well done. The tricks are very cool when they are performed and trying to see how they are done is fun guessing. They do multiple tricks and while each trick is different they, all matter in their overall shows. Overall, Now You See Me is a fun, twisty, magic flick.

Now You See Me is rated PG-13 for language, some action and sexual content. I give Now You See Me an invisible A.
