k_a_posterIf you like comic book movies with satire then Kick-Ass is for you. It stars Aaron Taylor Johnson as Dave Lizewski/Kick-Ass, Cristopher Mintz Plasse as Red Mist, Mark Strong as Frank D’Amico, Nicholas Cage as Big Daddy, and Chloe Grace Mortez as Hit Girl.

Kick Ass is about Dave who decides to become a superhero doing minor things but he eventually gets on Youtube and Big Daddy and Hit Girl take an interest in him. During one of his missons that goes worng ,they save Kick Ass and eventually they team up and have to stop Frank D’Macio who is one of the city’s leading mobsters.

Kick Ass is a great very funny comic book movie with a lot of satrical elements. The satire runs throughout and many subtle and unsubtle jokes are in throughout about the trends and cliches of comic book movies. Some of the comic books/movies Kick-Ass sucessfully satirizes include Spiderman and Batman.

While also sucessfully working as a satire, it also works as it’s own movie based off a comic book. It is very funny throughought with the script and the use of music mixing very well making some things that would not normally be funny, be hilarious. Besides those moments, the rest of the movie is also very funny with very funny dialogue and secnes. Overall, Kick Ass is a great very funny satire of comic book movie that also works as a comic book movie.

Kick Ass is rated R for strong brutal violence throughout, pervasive language, sexual content, nudity and some drug use – some involving children. It deserves that rating as there is strong violence, language, and sexual content throughout the movie. I give Kick Ass an asskicking A.
