If you like silly satire comedies then Fanboys is for you. Fanboys stars Sam Huntington as Eric, Chris Marquette as Linus, Dan Fogler as Hutch, Jay Baruchel as Windows, and Kristen Bell as Zoe.
Fanboys is about a bunch of Star Wars fans who want to see Star Wars Episode 1 : The Phantom Menace early . They travel to Skywalker Ranch to try to steal the 1st copy and get their name in fanboy history forever and also so their dying friend can see it.
Fanboys is silly, funny, good and is a good satire of the sci-fi genre and includes many, many cameos. It is funny and silly but some jokes are crude and stupid. Some jokes though are better and much better thought out. It is funny with good jokes. It is a good spoof of Star Wars. It is also a good satire of sci-fi and the sci-fi franchises fanboys.
It also includes a recurring joke about the rivalry between Trekkies and Star Wars fans. Those jokes are some of the best jokes in the movie. There are 2 big cameos ( hint : Who played Captain Kirk in Star Trek 1960’s and founder of Ain’t it Cool News) and they are very comedic. There are also other cameos as well. Some are recognizable, some are not. The 2 main cameos progress the story, one in the beginning and one in the middle. Sometimes, the movie has some crude and inappropriate jokes. Those jokes are foreshadowed, so you know when they are coming. The other jokes are much better than the crude jokes. There are not many of those crude jokes though. Overall, Fanboys is silly and funny.
Fanboys is rated PG-13 for pervasive crude material, language and drug content. I give Fanboys a sci-fi A-.
