The Artist Review

WINNER OF BEST PICTURE,BEST DIRECTOR, BEST ACTOR AND OTHER AWARDS AT THE 84TH ACADEMY AWARDS. ALSO, THIS FILM IS IN BLACK AND WHITE WITH NO SOUND ( THERE IS MUSIC IN THE BACKGROUND).

If you like nostalgic comedies then The Artist is for you . The Artist stars Jean Dujardin as George Valentin, Berenice Bejo as Peppy Miller, John Goodman as Al Zimmer, and James Cromwell as Clifton.

The Artist is about silent film star George Valentin who is at the top of his career. Talkies are starting to be popular as he falls in love with rising star Peppy Miller. His career stars going down and he has to get his career out of the dump and himself into movie star popularity.

The Artist is a very good/clever comedy. It has no talking until the very end. It is a homage to the old Hollywood films. It is very funny. The dog mimics George and it is hilarious. They also use flashcards with the lines spoken by the actors. Some of the cards are hilarious and silly. The whole movie is great. Normally, comedies need talking to be funny. This movie is funny with no talking. The motions made by the actors make the comedy. There are physical jokes,  gesture jokes and many others. The dog that mimics George plays a major part in the comedy. Overall, The Artist is a great comedy and a very clever one at that.

The Artist is rated PG-13 for a disturbing image and a crude gesture. I give The Artist a silent A+.
