Argo Review

Posted in On DVD by - December 16, 2012

If you like amazing, true spy movies then Argo is for you. It stars Ben Affleck as Tony Menendez, Byran Cranston as Jack O’ Donnell, John Goodman as John Chambers, Alan Arkin as Lester Siegel, and Victor Garber as Ken Taylor.

Argo starts when the American embassy is stormed in Iran in 1979. 6 Americans from the embassy escape through a back door. They go to the Canadian Ambassador’s house. The CIA then asks for Menendez’s help to sneak the 6 out of Iran. He decides to have them act as a film crew. He hires Chambers and Siegel to help make a fake movie that looks real enough to rescue the Americans.

Argo is an amazing true spy movie. It is very well done. It balances the scenes set in Iran,CIA Headquarters, and Hollywood very well. It is a very good thriller even though you know how it ends. It is expertly paced. The suspense never lets up after it starts. It shows how countries and business can work together for a good misson. All of the acting is good too. This movie deserves it oscar buzz, it should get nominated for Best Picture. Ben Affleck is great as Menendez. John Goodman and Alan Arkin are the comic relief. They are the Hollywood people enlisted to help the CIA. Their scenes are funny and when Affleck,Arkin, and Goodman are on screen together, it is very funny. The whole movie is very well done. It is one of the best movies I have seen this year. Overall, Argo is an excellent, funny, true spy movie .

Argo is rated R. That is an accurate rating. It rated R for language and some violent images. I give Argo an A-plus!
