If you like historical dramas with strong acting, then Lincoln is for you. It stars Daniel Day- Lewis as Abraham Lincoln, Sally Field as Mary Todd Lincoln, David Straharian as William Seward, Joseph Gordon-Levvit as Robert Lincoln, James Spader as W.N. Bilbo, and Tommy Lee Jones as Thaddeus Stevens.
Lincoln is about the 16th’s president’s attempts to get the 13th Amendment passed. He must get enough votes in the House of Representatives and the Senate for it to pass and become law.
Lincoln is a very good historical drama bolstered by a strong ensemble and amazing lead performance from Dainel-Day Lewis as Abraham Lincoln. His acting is amazing, within the first 10 minutes you forget about Lewis and you think you are watching Abraham Lincoln. The rest of the ensemble is very good as well. All have roles of different importance but all are excellent in their roles. The rest of the movie is very good as well. This is a movie you could suggest to your history teacher if you are studying the Civil War. The remarkable performances along with the rest of the movie makes for a fine film. This is probably going to be a heavy hitter come Oscar nominations and Oscar night. Overall, Lincoln is a very good historical drama with excellent performances.
Lincoln is rated PG-13 for an intense scene of war violence, some images of carnage and brief strong language. I give Lincoln an A !
