The Cabin in the Woods

If you like dark, comedy, horror movies then The Cabin in the Woods is for you. It stars Kristen Connolly as Dana, Chris Hemsworth as Curt, Anna Hutchinson as Jules, Fran Kranz as Marty, Jesse Williams as Holden, Richard Jekins as Sitterson and Bradley Whitford as Hadley.

The Cabin in the Woods starts when a group of a college students go off for a weekend at a cabin in the woods. Simply to say, bad things happen and things go terribly wrong.

The Cabin in the Woods is a horror movie with comedic parts and some very dark parts.  Without spoiling the plot twist, I can say, whether it was meant to be or not , this is a satirical parody and commentary on the horror genre. Even when the plot goes over the top and crazy at the climax, it is still funny with irony. The twist is a unique and clever one, taking a look at the genre , the tropes and stereotypes, and simultaneously incorporating them while satirizing them. This is a genre movie and a well made one at that. The comedy, even if sometimes very dark , is consistently strong throughout. I recommend not watching the official trailer ( the one posted below has spoilers removed) or reading any spoilers about this movie before seeing it. It would ruin the twist and tamper with your enjoyment of this horror film. If you do not like gore, do not watch this movie due to the copious amounts of it. Overall, The Cabin in the Woods is a comedic, horror film with a fresh twist.

The Cabin in the Woods is rated R for strong bloody horror violence and gore, language, drug use and some sexuality/nudity. This is an accurate rating for this movie. There is a frontal nudity shot, sexual content and drug use. I give The Cabin in the Woods a twisty A+.
