oblivion-movie-poster-3If you like sci-fi movies with twists and great effects then Oblivion is for you. It stars Tom Cruise as Jack Harper, Morgan Freeman as Beech, Nikolaj Coster-Waldu as Sykes, Melissa Leo as Sally, Olga Kurylenko as Julia, and Andrea Riseborough as Victoria.

Oblivion is about Jack and Victoria on Earth in 2077, 60 years after an alien invasion. They won the war but the planet was destroyed so everyone left.  Jack and Victoria do drone repair that guard machines that power where the humans have all relocated to. They have 2 weeks left on their mission and everything is going normally until an unusual discovery. Everything escalates till a point where Jack must question everything.

Oblivion is a great twisty sci-fi movie with great visuals, effects and a great score. It has many unexpected plot twists and revelations. They start around half way through and continue until the very end. Some of them are homages.  And if you are a sci-fi fan it is fun when you catch one of the references, easter eggs, or how one sci-fi idea is successfully used for part of the twist.

The visual effects are great. There are several great vistas and landscape shots.  They are realistic and really add to the overall movie. The technology in the movie is also very cool. The score is also wonderful, kicking in at the right moments. Overall, Oblivion is a great twisty sci-fi movie with great effects and a great score.

Oblivion is rated PG-13 for sci-fi action violence, brief strong language, and some sensuality/nudity. I give Oblivion a visual A-.
