If you like great unqiue movies then Holy Motors is for you. It stars Denis Levant as Mr. Oscar and Edith Scob as Celine.
Holy Motors follows Mr. Oscar and his limosuine driver Celine as he fufills 9 different appointments in Paris in a 24 hour peroid.
Holy Motors is great. It is very unique and is different from any film I have seen in a while. It shows how boundless cinema can be when you have a unique idea and a way to film it and the unlimited possiblites of story telling and how non linear and experimental it can be. The movie is also an ode to cinema combining different genres in unqiue ways and has several homages to cinema. It is funny, crazy, dramatic, musical and other things that all mix well.
Each appointment is a different story and are a different genre. They are all entertaining, ranging from musical to motion capture. These appointments are not the only things in the movie with parts taking place in the limo in between the appointments as Oscar gets ready for his next appointment.
Denis Levant is great in the lead role acting like a chameleon, inhabiting the character that he is playing in each of his appointments with great skill. Edith Scob is also great as his driver Celine. Overall, Holy Motors is a great original film.
Holy Motors is not rated by the MPAA. The film is in French with English subtitles and some characters speak English. I give Holy Motors a unique A.
