If you like good fun movies then Pitch Perfect is for you. It stars Anna Kendrick as Beca, Rebel Wilson as Fat Amy, Brittany Snow as Chloe, Skylar Astin as Jesse, and Anna Camp as Aubrey.
Pitch Perfect starts at the ICCA finals of acapella where the Barden Bellas are performing but lose due to a puking incident. It then cuts to 4 month’s later where Beca, who’s a new student, is arriving at Barden College on her first day. The activities fair is happening and The Barden Bellas are attempting to recruit after last year’s disaster. Beca turns down their offer to join the team and she ends up joining the radio station for an internship. Cut to a month later when she is working at the radio station. She goes to take a shower but is caught singing by the leader of the Bellas and is pressured into singing and persuaded to audition. She is accepted, and along with the rest of the new Bellas after undergoing initiation, have to practice and win all the competitions so they can redeem themselves.
Pitch Perfect is a good fun movie. While very over hyped and not the great movie that teenage girls would have you to believe, it’s still good and fun.
At it’s core,Pitch Perfect is a musical comedy. Just like in Rock of Ages earlier in 2012, there is occasional busting out into a musical number for no apparent reason. But most of the time there is a reason for it.
It is also fun. The comedy is funny and there are some very funny one liners. And the whole movie is lighthearted. Overall, Pitch Perfect is a good fun musical comedy.
Pitch Perfect is rated PG-13 for sexual material, language and drug references. That is accurate. I give Pitch Perfect a vocal B.
