Arthur Christmas Review

Posted in On DVD by - December 24, 2011

If you like silly,  funny animated movies then Arthur Christmas if for you. Arthur Christmas has the voices of  James Mc Avoy ( X-Men First Class, Wanted ) as Arthur, Hugh Laurie ( House) as Steve, Bill Nighy ( Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, Harry Potter) as Grandsanta and Jim Broadbent ( Harry Potter 6, Hot Fuzz) as Santa.

Arthur Christmas starts with what Santa and the elves think is a successful Christmas mission. But wait, a child is missed. Santa,  Steve (Santa’s son and his planned successor) don’t  know what to do and they think there is no  reasonable option. So they decide not to try to get a present to the missed child. Arthur (Santa’s other son who tends to mess things up) and Grandsanta take out the old sleigh to give the missed child her present.

Arthur Christmas  is funny but it is very silly. It almost falls into the standard movie cliche, all hope is loss in the middle but then the characters have a vision and  their acts together. It is very funny and has some good jokes but it is loaded with a lot of silly things for younger kids. During the show I went to, several young kids went running up to the screen screaming Santa

Arthur Christmas is rated PG for some mild rude humor. I give Arthur Christmas an A-.
